Why Aren’t You Traveling to Grenada?

It’s hard to imagine that many travelers overlook Grenada (pronounced gre-NAY-da) as a vacation destination; it consists of the island along with six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines (island chain) in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. What’s not to like? Plus, Grenada has a sweet smell to it – you may smell cinnamon, cloves, cocoa, ginger, nutmeg and hints of fruit in the air. Not to mention the number of sandy beaches (about 45) for you to kick back and relax on with a good book or work on your tan. If you’re looking for a different type of tropical vacation, Grenada is exotic as they come. It’s friendly, too. Great for family travel. Read on to learn about the top things you can do on your Grenada vacation. You may wonder why you haven’t visited sooner.

These are the Top Grenada Experiences

Spend the Day in St. George’s

St. George’s, the capital of Grenada, is known as the most beautiful harbor town in the Caribbean. Stroll through its narrow streets and walk past the vibrantly painted houses that radiate an air of colonialism and you may feel as if you’ve stepped into an oil painting. You may want to spend 1-2 hours in St. George’s at which time you may get hungry. The marina has plenty of restaurants serving delicious dishes that will satisfy your hunger. After that, head to Fort Frederick and Fort George and learn about Grenada’s history and Market Square to learn about local spices.

Sunbathe on Grand Anse Beach

Grand Anse Beach is about six miles from St. George’s. You may reach it by car, minibus, or water taxi. If you want to have fun in the sun, you won’t be disappointed because Grand Anse Beach is a two-mile stretch of white sand that overlooks a blue-hued bay that’s filled with colorful fishing boats. Hotels, restaurants, and shops add to the scenery. But keep in mind that local vendors may be aggressive with their sales pitches. All you have to do is firmly say, “No, thank you,” and they’ll move on to the next person. Of course, if you want to buy souvenirs, it will be a great time for you to practice your negotiation skills.
